“1,000,000,000 people live with chronic hunger and I am mad with rage.” With a whistle, Brazilian flag in hand, counselors from CONSEA (National Food Security Council), FAO regional representative for Latin America and the Caribbean José Graziano da Silva and a delegation of 40 food security advisors from Latin America and the Caribbean launched the “1billionhungry” campaign in Brasília.
The “1billionhungry” campaign uses strong images and messages to draw attention to the problem and call for an end to hunger. One of the highlights is the promotional video starring British actor Jeremy Irons, in which he plays a character based on the famous scene from the film Network.
An online petition calls on governments to make eradicating hunger their top priority. And let people be outraged by the fact that around a billion people in the world live in hunger.
