Recipes with natural seasonings

In the previous post, we talked about condiments and how they can make food tastier and thus reduce salt consumption. Here are some recipes with these seasonings to make your meal more delicious.

Beans with flaxseed and herb salt

Ingredients 

  • 100g carioquinha beans
  • 10g of onion
  • 20 g of tomato
  • 20 d of pumpkin
  • 2 g of coriander
  • 2 g of chives
  • 10 ml of oil
  • 750 ml of water
  • 1 g of garlic
  • 2 dessert spoons of flaxseed
  • 2 teaspoons of herbal salt

Way of doing

Select the beans and add four parts of water;

Cooks for 2 to 3 minutes under pressure;

Leave to rest in the same water for one hour;

Prepare a stew with the seasonings;

Add the flaxseed and herb salt;

Add the stew to the beans. Return to pressure cooking for another 30 minutes.

Yield: 5 servings

 

Oven Baked Fish

 

Ingredients

  • 1 3kg fish (with few bones)
  • 300 ml dry white wine
  • 1 glass of coconut milk
  • 1 cup of olive oil
  • 1 spoon of herb salt
  • 1 large onion
  • 5 large garlic cloves
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 pepper
  • Black pepper and cumin to taste
  • 1 bunch of green onions
  • 1 bunch of coriander

Method of preparation

Clean the fish;

Blend all the other ingredients to make a sauce in a blender and cover the fish with the sauce and leave to marinate for 2 hours;

Then cover with aluminum foil and place in the oven for 20 minutes to cook;

Remove the paper and let it brown. Remember to pour the sauce over the fish to create a crust.

Yield: 4 servings

 

 Chicken thigh with herbs

 

Ingredients

  • 8 skinless chicken thighs
  • 1 teaspoon herb salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 red pepper cut into thick slices
  • 1 yellow pepper cut into thick slices
  • 1 red onion cut into thick slices
  • Olive oil for greasing

Method of preparation

Preheat the oven to medium temperature (180ºC). Grease a medium baking dish and set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, rosemary, thyme, and herb salt until smooth.

Spread the herb mixture on the thighs and place them on the reserved baking sheet. If there is any mixture left, pour it over the thighs.

Add, alternately, the red pepper, yellow pepper and onion on top of the drumsticks. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the aluminum foil and bake for another 20 minutes or until the chicken is golden.

Yield: 8 servings
